bakkelinis Only three days left here in la costa gaditana...I'll miss cañas y pescaito!!! I never thought I would miss small glasses of beer, but I will. I guess i'll have to go to Irish pubs in Oslo and order half pints. The romour says it's not much colder back in Norway, but it sure will be dark and rainy... The beach of Zahara de los Atúnes. The names of the villages here are fantastic :) In the background you see cabo de Trafalgar, the scene of the big battle between the brits and the spanish armada. I just have to come back! LOOK!! So it was lipton after all....That I drank in Thailand that is. I was very disturbed by the fact that it tasted sooooooooo good there but not here. So. now I just have to conclude that it tastes better when it is really hot and the icetea is really cold...and that nestea is no longer an option. I tried that as well here and I didn't like it much either. So from now on I'll only drink icetea (of any kind) when the temperatures rise above 35 degrees...in march I guess, when I'll be in Australia Current mood: Current music: Amoresperros soundtrack. Experimenting with flikr and livejournal.. Very curios as to how this will turn out. The things you do when you are supposed to be working... What to do, what to do... I just have to see the new Iñarritu movie - BABEL. But, it will be dubbed... I dont think it will still be on when I get back to Norway. And then I am wondering about LOS FANTASMAS DE GOYA/GOYA'S GHOSTS- it is a spanish movie, but it says that the original title is GOYA'S GHOSTS... will it be dubbed or what? The cast is half/half spanish and other actors. And then, if it is dubbed, will the voices of the spanish actors be their own? Will Javier Bardem first do it all in English and then dubb himself to Spanish? I have no idea, strange either way. It also seems that scandinavians are becoming popular in spanish cinema, Stellan Skarsgaard is in this one. Current mood: Current music: still happy cause they played the Cure at the bar last night. Why, why, why? American texbooks suck! I am supposed to start teaching sociology tomorrow and I have spent the whole day reading the textbook and trying to find other sources for the lectures. It is impossible to rely solely on the book...They start by posing the question of whether sociology is just common sense put in difficult words, but then they spend the whole rest of the book stating this and that WITHOUT MENTIONING THE THEORIES OR REFERING TO EMPIRICAL RESEARCH!! blablabla. And then they claim that they want to encourage critucal thinking but they higlight all the "important" stuff for you, they even have a cute little sign everywhere the text refers to "globalization" (read: any other country than the US)and everything is so structured and outlined that you dont have time to think...And yes, there are mulitple choice questions at the end of each chapter. They say that the students should use their sociological imagination WITHOUT EXPLAINING WHAT IT IS! Well, everything isnt that bad actually. Some of the examples in the textboxes are quite good. And they talk alot about sex...and there are a lot of photos... URGH. I read that the sociology students in Bergen were rebelling against their assigned readings on the grounds that it was nothing different from what they had been doing in high shool, maybe they've got the same book.. Other than that: Everything is certainly not illuminated yet. Waiting for an answer as to where I will be working after the next around the world trip. Current mood: I have been to the movies! In VERSIÓN ORIGINAL!!!! What a delight to listen to Woody Allen's and Scarlett Johanson's real, authentic voices! Not having to endure the distortion of the caracters names! Not being annoyed by the fact that the lipmovments and what's coming out of the mouth is unsyncronized...Just watching the moive and that's that. No, I havent gone mad, I just live in Spain...The heartland of dubbing. I had to go all the way to Madrid to be able to finally see a movie in original version. And it was fantastic. I thought that I would get used to it, and to a certain extent I have, but no, it will never be the same. They say that Spain has the best dubbers in the world, that Bruce Willis (or was it Lee?) once saw one of his movies dubbed and claimed that the dubber did a better job than he did himself... I don't care, dubbing is vandalism!!! From now on I will only watch spanish and latinamerican movies here, after a taste of the real thing it will be unbearable to go back. By the way, Viggo Mortensen did quite an impressive job playng the lead in a spanish historical drama, Alatriste, in spanish. I was a bit afraid that he would be dubbed, as the only actor. that would have been something...I had no idea he spoke castellano, but then again, there are so many things I don't know. I had a great time in Madrid, havent been there since 2001 when I last lived in Spain. Walking around without being stared at as if I were an alien, big bookstores(bought only one, good girl!), patatas bravas (they dont have them here!) museums (yes I went to Prado, and a photo exhibiton)the before mentioned cinema and good company. Ah, the joys of the big city :) But the best thing about Madrid is that it doesnt feel that big (exept when you have to take the metro or walk down a narrow sidewalk on a rainy day, everyone seems to have an umbrella...) I dont feel lost or overwhelmed even if I I think about the fact that there are more people there than in the whole of Norway... So, this is me in nonoriginal-version, but still not dubbed. Feels a bit strange writing in english, but I'll try to keep it this way as my earlier attempts at keeping a bilangual journal weren't very successfull.. Current mood: Current music: Tango nuevo. Amores Perros - Love's a bitch - Elskede kjøtere! På TV2 to i kveld! Current mood: Current music: Love's a bitch. Ojojoj.... Current mood: Current music: biltuting. Hvorfor smaker Lipton iste himmelsk i Thailand, men den her bare smaker noe saftaktig skvip??? Current mood: |
